Every Heathrow Option — Honestly Ranked

1

GetLondonTransfer — Pre-Booked Fixed Transfer Best Overall

Fixed from £55 to central London. Driver in arrivals hall (T2, T3, T4, T5) with name board. £7 Heathrow drop-off included. Flight tracked automatically. No night rate — same fare at 4am as 4pm. 30 minutes free waiting. Best combination of price certainty, convenience and group value. 4.9★ across 50,000+ rides.

2

Elizabeth Line (Crossrail)

The fastest per-person option for solo travellers — Bond Street in 33 minutes, Liverpool Street in 40 minutes. At £12–£22 per person, it is the cheapest door-to-platform option. Serves T2/T3 and T5 directly; T4 requires a shuttle first. Best for solo travellers with carry-on heading to central or east London. Onward travel from the Elizabeth Line stop is usually needed.

3

Uber / Bolt

Competitive off-peak (£50–£70) and good for solo mid-week travel. The fundamental issue is surge: Friday evenings, bank holidays and delay waves push fares to £90–£140+. Since January 2026, Uber applies 20% VAT to London journeys. Kerbside pickup only — no arrivals hall. For off-peak solo travel where surge is unlikely, Uber is a reasonable choice.

4

Heathrow Express Train

15 minutes to Paddington at £25 per person. Serves T2/T3 and T5 only (T4 not served). Only worth the premium if your final destination is genuinely walking distance from Paddington. For most passengers, the Elizabeth Line delivers similar total journey time at half the price to more useful central London stops.

5

Black Cab (Taxi Rank)

Metered fares of £79–£115+ to central London, with night tariffs (8pm–6am adding ~25%) and bank holiday premiums. Queue of 20–45 minutes at peak arrivals. The Knowledge-trained drivers are excellent, but the cost and wait time are difficult to justify against a pre-booked fixed transfer. Best as a genuine last-resort walk-up option.

6

Piccadilly Line (Underground)

The cheapest option at £5.50 per person, serving all four Heathrow terminals. 50–60 minutes to central London. Slow, not suitable for luggage, crowded at peak times. The Elizabeth Line is now the better rail choice for most Heathrow passengers — faster, more comfortable, and serves more useful stops. Piccadilly Line is best for ultra-budget solo travel only.

"I've tried every option on this list over five years of weekly Heathrow travel. The Elizabeth Line wins for me personally — solo, carry-on, Canary Wharf. But when I'm with a client or have bags, GetLondonTransfer is the only correct answer. Fixed £68, driver waiting, zero decisions required."

Best Taxi Heathrow 2026 FAQ

What is the best taxi service at Heathrow Airport in 2026?

For most passengers, GetLondonTransfer is the best taxi at Heathrow in 2026: fixed from £55, driver in arrivals hall at all four terminals, £7 drop-off included, flight tracked, no night rate. For solo travellers with light luggage heading to Bond Street or Liverpool Street, the Elizabeth Line (£12–£22) is faster per person.

What is the cheapest way from Heathrow to central London?

Per person, the Piccadilly Line is cheapest at £5.50, followed by the Elizabeth Line (£12–£22). For groups of 2 or more, a shared pre-booked taxi (from £55 total) is often cheaper per person than individual train fares once onward travel is added.

Is the Heathrow Express worth it in 2026?

Only for a specific passenger: solo, one bag, hotel genuinely walking distance from Paddington. At £25 versus £12–£22 for the Elizabeth Line to more useful central London stops, the Express is poor value for most. For groups or anyone needing onward travel from Paddington, a pre-booked taxi is cheaper and door-to-door.
