Route
From SW1, the cleanest route to Ascot is across to the M4 westbound, then south on the A308 to the racecourse. Driver factors in race-day traffic on approach.
Westminster → Hyde Park Corner → A4 west / Cromwell Road → M4 westbound → M4 J6 → A332/A329 → Ascot Racecourse. Approximately 30 miles, typically 50–60 minutes off-peak.
For Royal Ascot week and major race days, traffic on the A308/A329 corridor near the racecourse can be heavy from late morning. Driver may take alternative back-road approaches via Sunninghill or Cheapside (the village, not the City) — local knowledge avoids the worst queues. Allow 80–90 min for major race days.
