Where to meet your driver at Waterloo

Cab Road (default)

The official pre-booked private hire zone runs along Cab Road on the south side of the station, accessible via the Victory Arch exit. From the main concourse, follow signs for Exit to South Bank / Cab Road. The walk from platforms 1–19 (mainline) is approximately 2 minutes.

Sutton Walk pickup (alternative)

If Cab Road is congested — common during evening rush hour and after major South Bank events — drivers may collect from Sutton Walk on the north side, a 3-minute walk from the concourse.

Black-cab rank — Mepham Street

The official black-cab rank is on Mepham Street outside the main entrance. Pre-booked private hire cannot legally use this rank under TfL rules.

Platform meet & greet (free on request)

Your driver waits at the platform exit with a printed name board. Particularly useful for arrivals on Eurostar's successor services, long-distance South Western Railway services, and accessibility needs.

All fares are for a Mercedes saloon (up to 4 passengers, 4 large suitcases). MPV (6 passengers) +£15; Executive Mercedes E-Class +£25; Mercedes S-Class luxury +£60. Quotes are fixed at booking — no surge, no surprises.

Waterloo Taxi FAQ

Where is the taxi rank at Waterloo Station?
The black-cab rank is on Mepham Street, outside the main station entrance, operating 24/7. Pre-booked private hire vehicles cannot legally use the black-cab rank — pre-booked taxis collect from Cab Road (south side, via the Victory Arch exit) or Sutton Walk (north side alternative). Your Get London Transfer driver will confirm the exact meeting point when you book.
How much is a taxi from Waterloo to Heathrow Airport?
Fixed £60 in a Mercedes saloon for up to 4 passengers, all terminals. The journey is 19 miles and takes 40-55 minutes via the A4 and M4. A black cab from the rank is metered and typically costs £65-£95 depending on traffic. For 2+ travellers, pre-booked is always cheaper than separate Tube + Heathrow Express tickets.
How much is a taxi from Waterloo to Gatwick?
Fixed £75 in a Mercedes saloon, both terminals, 55-75 min journey via the A23/M23. Compare with Gatwick Express (£21.50/person from Victoria — requiring a separate Tube journey from Waterloo first) or train via Clapham Junction (£17/person, 35 min + walking time). For 2+ passengers, pre-booked is consistently cheaper and door-to-door.
Can I pre-book a taxi from Waterloo Station 24/7?
Yes. Get London Transfer operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Book online at getlondontransfer.com/booking.html, WhatsApp +44 7427 249103, or call 020 8888 9988. Fares are locked at booking with no surge pricing.
How long does a taxi take from Waterloo to central London?
South Bank/County Hall: 3 minutes. Westminster: 8 minutes. Mayfair: 18 minutes. Soho: 15 minutes. Covent Garden: 12 minutes. The City: 18 minutes. Knightsbridge: 20 minutes. Canary Wharf: 22 minutes. Add 5-15 minutes during weekday peaks (08:00-10:00, 17:00-19:00) and during major South Bank events.
Is there a wheelchair-accessible taxi at Waterloo?
Yes. Get London Transfer's Mercedes V-Class MPVs accommodate wheelchair access with a ramp. Book at least 4 hours in advance. Waterloo Station is step-free between platforms and the Victory Arch and Mepham Street exits. Black cabs at the rank are also wheelchair-accessible but cannot be pre-booked.
Can I take 6-8 people in a taxi from Waterloo?
Yes. We operate Mercedes V-Class MPVs (6 passengers) and 8-seater minibuses. For groups travelling to Heathrow or cruise terminals, per-person cost is significantly lower than separate train tickets and luggage capacity is far better. Specify vehicle type at booking; MPV surcharge over saloon is approximately £15-£25.
Where do pre-booked taxis pick up at Waterloo for cruise transfers?
From Cab Road on the south side of the station. For cruise transfers to Southampton (£145, 2 hr), Dover (£160, 2 hr), Tilbury (£70, 55 min), or Portsmouth (£120, 100 min), Mercedes V-Class MPV is recommended for cruise luggage volumes. Depart Waterloo at least 4 hours before boarding.
What is the Waterloo Station taxi phone number?
Get London Transfer's 24/7 booking line is 020 8888 9988. For instant confirmation: WhatsApp +44 7427 249103, or book online at getlondontransfer.com/booking.html. Driver details (name, photo, vehicle registration) are sent to you 15 minutes before pickup.
Is Uber available at Waterloo Station?
Yes — Uber, Bolt and FreeNow all operate. However, Waterloo's high passenger volume and South Bank event traffic make it a surge-pricing hotspot. Peak multipliers of 1.5x-2.5x are common on Friday evenings, post-event nights, and during weather events. Pre-booked private hire locks the price at booking — Waterloo-to-Heathrow stays at £60 even when Uber hits £90-£110.
